He has been a model and a notable television actor, and now Manav Gohil debuts in Bollywood with Dharmesh Darshans Bhanvra. Its a story of youngsters. The movie is about love, betrayal and friendship. I play a character named Aman who is rich and happy to be rich. Its a thriller, says an excited Manav.
Manav is all praises for Dharmesh. He is a thorough professional.
In fact, the right word to describe him would be passionate. He is also a fabulous teacher, says Manav. And, what did he learn or unlearn from this teacher? Coming from television, I didnt know anything about films or filmmaking. There are so many facets to real cinema and Dharmesh made me experience all of them. He was a school in himself, reveals Manav.
So, why did he decide to sign on the dotted line? When I got the offer, I did not choose, select or agree. I just nodded a yes. Working in a
Dharmesh Darshan movie is a dream come true for me. This is not a one or two crore movie. Its a big budget film and I am lucky to be a part of it.
Manav says that his strengths as an actor and a human being are, Hunger to learn, professionalism, punctuality, eagerness and good vibes. Thats the reason Dharmesh chose me out of all the other television actors and not because I was better looking.
If he had to emulate any actors, it would be, Vinod Khanna, Aamir Khan and Kay Kay Menon for their artistic talents and of course, Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan for their brilliance and energy. Manav says that now that he has made an entry in Bollywood, he wouldnt ideally like to do any television shows. But, he adds as a cautionary note, Never say never. The difference between movies and TV serials lies in the scale, canvas, budget, costumes and creativity. Today, I feel that television has become commercial at the cost of creativity.
Its true that cinema brings out the real actor in you. I dont look down on television because it has a wide reach, but only those who have the patience to do substandard work are still stuck on the small screen, he adds.
